They are installed instead of the rear pair of oxygen sensors.

What are these, something you install the rear aftercat sensors into to trick the ECM into believing you have a properly operating cat inline? I ask this question because I get an accasional engine code on both banks that indicate the reading is below the threshold. I clear the codes and a week or two later they come back - maybe I just need to remove the cats (I know the legality issues) and experiance free flowing exhaust without codes - is this feasable?

That is exactly what they are for.

Of course, they are illegal on cars that are operated on public roads.

Typically they are used whenever you remove the cats from the car.

If you have cats and are still getting codes then something is wrong. I would find out exactly what is happening before you decide to get the eliminators. There may be a legitimate malfunction of something, and you don't want to ignore it unless you know what it is.

Another option is that you can have a tuner give you a custom tune that turns off the rear o2 sensors, which acheives the same goal as using the MIL eliminators, but it's free (if you have a tuner) and it is less detectable if you get inspected.

Crazyal - I have SLP hiflo cats and when I put those on with a C&L CAI and canned tune , I never got a trouble code. After the Whipple went on, I have had the code a few times (3) on both banks, however, the Whipple tune is sort of like our oem tune and I can't change it with my DiabloSport ( I can remove engine codes though). Since I had a dyno run with AFR reading taken a couple of weeks ago and found I am running on the lean side, maybe its time to go get a real tune done as I suspect the lean condition is probably the root of the emission codes anyway - do you have an opinion on this Al? Thanks for your input.

That sounds reasonable to me. Get the dyno tune, it's basically a must with a supercharger.
