Nitrogen resists pressure changes from temperature. It's used on most race cars and is starting to gain popularity on street cars because you don't have to adjust your pressure as much when the temperature changes.

It's also used in aircraft tires for the same reasons.

I heard nitrogen molecules are larger and therefore do not leak out as readily. REALLY!!!
I bought tires for my wife's Dodge Intrepid 7 months ago. They inflated them with nitrogen for free. I have not had to add any air since.

This is interesting as the stock Pirrelis are the only tires I've ever ownder where I have to make sure to check the psi about every month. Usually it will be down about 1 psi.
The daily temp difference is nothing. The tire's going to heat up regardless of what kind of air is in it.
