It's a manual. Yah, I'm convinced, don't fear the gear. FuriousGeorge, I think mustangman02232 was meaning "both 4th gears" referring to both 4th gear in auto and manual are 1.1.

Damn, I'm trapping 106 with my mods and that was before the LTs and CMDPs...Wonder what 4:10s would do?

Get off me Rock...I'm still on the fence!!!

How about you chew on this brother if/when you run those M/T ET streets (26.5 inches tall) we are talking about.

With a final drive ratio of 3.55 and a 26.5 inch tall tire you will be running at about 6300 rpm in 3rd gear with your current 106 mph trap speed.

Obviously your trap speed will be higher with the CMDPs and LTs you recently installed, and since you would be on verge of running out of 3rd gear with the M/T ET streets anyway GET THE 4.10s!!!

both 4th gears are 1:1 so unless you trap faster then 120 (doubt it) go with atleast 4.10s 4.30 if your a 5 speed
[sm=dontgetit.gif] Both 4th gears? He's only changing the rear gears right? Even in 4th his RPM's will be higher than stock gears... I think I'm confused.
both the autos and manuals 4th gear is 1:1, so no matter what tranny you need to trap around 120 or up to not want 4.10s or around 115 for 4.30s

Has any1 that is recomending 4.10s ever drove a gt with 4.10s? Or even have a 05+ gt? 4.10's die out at 115mph, I drove a 4.10, races vs a 4.10, seen 4.10 vs 3.73/3.90/3.55. 4.10's are track only gears, if you street race at @ all dont go with them because you will seriously hurt your top end. 4.30s is just plain stupid you will run all your gears(1-4) before 110 or maybe less mph.

I posted this on another gear thread, but it applies here too:

A mustang with a stock diameter tire , 4.10s, in 4th gear (1:1) at 6000 RPM can go 118 mph.
Assuming a you have a manual and you don't shift until 6250 rpm you can go 123 mph in 4th gear.

This website also verified my numbers:

so did this one

and this one

I wouldn't go with 4.10s with your mods, you will have to shift to 5th on the 1/4 mile. got with 3.73 or 3.90's
No shift to 5th in 1/4 mile. 4th gear speed is over 110mph with plenty of room for more before 5th. Pulls like crazy in 4th.

I do recommend them and I do have them. I don't have an 05 I have an 06Gt. As I have heard and seen first hand 410's do not die out at 115mph, as for top end and street racing; I don't know many people (none) who race on the street at over 100mph)

Just trying to clarify.

uh ya, and including one with a t45 (and a t3650 with a blower, that was sooo fun) the t45 is geared shorter and was fine until you shifted into 5th at 120 mph, but it pulled harder throught 5th gear then it did stock, burried the speedo couldnt do that with stock gears, 4.30s will last till 115, but, it will make your 5th gear less of a bitch to get through so they will pull in 5th, not hard, but will still pull, and you can still do over 170, but if your racing to over to 120, or going over it often, i sure hope to god you dont a.) kill anyone and B.) that you loose your license very soon
