Default Tire pressure sensor

Just picked up a 2007 Manual GT Alloy Premium with the appearance package. I just changed the stock wheels and tires out and put on a set of 2005 GT wheels and tires for the winter. Since I did that the tire pressure sensor goes off each time I start the car. I can reset it and it is fine until I turn the car off and start it again. I checked the pressure and it is fine. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. Wondering if the dealer will have to reset it. No big deal, just slightly annoying. Thanks.

How do these things work anyway? Is there a sensor in the tire with a transmitter? Or does it measure rotational speed of the wheels with the ABS sensors???

The tire pressure sender is attached to the inside of the rim opposite of the valve stem. If you did not swap them to the new rims, if you can, then you are not sending any data to the ecm.

That makes sense. I never did anything aside from change out the wheels. Last thing I want to do now is take the wheels off again but oh well. Thanks for the help.

My '05 has the spot in the dash for that light, but there aren't any sensors. Kind of how there is an upward pointing arrow in the middle of the tach to act as a shift light... that also isn't activated. Guess Ford felt like wasting some time putting in things that aren't used.

Aaaaaah tire pressure sensor....yes, what a pain in the **** on my 2004 Expedition. If I am low 5 lbs it goes off, If its very cold in the morning it goes off too and then it goes away after the first 5 or so miles...still what a pain...

My dealer tried to turn it off, and couldn't since it is a mandatory safety thing mandated by the government. Oh, and they are on metal bands that go around the rim. They are not related to the valve stem at all. I just got mine fixed (longer F-150 bands for 20" wheels).

BTW, your car sounds like it is identical to mine, except for the wheels.

Okay, so they must have a battery in them, right? I guess this means that eventually you have to take them to Ford to replace the battery.
