Default What will it take to get into the 8's in the 1/8th mile?

E/T: 9.18 @ 76.8, .58 R/T, 2.1 60 ft. (totally stock)

I plan on going out again tonight and getting into the 8's with lower tire pressures and HOPING the track will hook up better than last week.
I spun all the way through 2nd every pass, launching @ 2000-2500 with consistent 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 60 ft's. But it was kinda humid, and pretty chilly, so that must be why I couldn't hook for crap. But for the car getting where I wanted it in ways of stock times, I am happy as it sits right now. I am looking for 8's tonight though. If I can break into the 8's, I will be happy.
Is there anything I can do, without spending money on mods, (TOTALLY STOCK) to get into the 8's? I know a lower 60 ft time, along with a good sticky track will probably get me there...

I'm running 8.5? I think, I'd have to check the time slips. Are you automatic or manual, and what gear are you shifting at? A 2.1 60' should get you in the 8's easily, stock or not. It could also depend on your location, altitude and what not..

I have 93 Oct Brenspeed tune, C&L Intake and Steeda UDPs.

Like I mentioned, I was running full tire pressures, launching at 2500-3000, shifting at 5200-5500, spinning all the way through first, and most of the way through 2nd.... hence the low 60 ft.

And I am also TOTALLY stock.... nothing done to the car except for taking the little filter out of the intake tube.

You are in Clarksville, so I guess that is where you ran. I ran Union Hill when all I had was a tune and axlebacks and was high 8.8 and 8.9's. Last time I was at Clarksville I was at 8.6 flat. Haven't made the track lately with my cams etc. etc....

You should be able to break 9's with a good launch and 6 grand shifts. Clarksville has a pretty good launch surface if you get there right after the brackets for test and tune. Think they are closed now for the season.

I just got the car 2 weeks ago, I ran it at the track just to get a good baseline on where the car is stock before I do anthing to it.

And the Clarksville Dragstrip is still open as long as it stays warm. But they aren't running tonight because of the 3 day long rains we have had here.

I think the only reason I couldn't hook up was because it was fairly humid, and rather chilly when I ran it last week.

they i launch is working great for me.. i get 2.0 or 1.9x 60' all the time.. i don't know how to explain, i can just do it.. you can slip the clutch and it will give you better 60' but i don't slip the clutch and i have cut countless of 1.9x and 2.0 60' by dumping the clutch on different tracks..just need to know how to use your legs.. basicle when i dump the clutch i hit the gas half way or less then (in less then a sec.) suddenly floor it and look ahead and see i cut 1.9x 60'
