i-pod plug on '07

RE: i-pod plug on '07
It's not a direct "digital" hook up. You have to tune your radio to 88.3 to receive the mp3 signal. There's minimal static (you won't hear it all when driving) and sounds just as good as any radio station signal. It will be much better thanyourpowerjack plug in.
I don't think it's the same as the '07 plug in.

Is it hooking directly into your attennae line? I had a CD changer in the trunk of another car a few years ago and it hooked into the attennae and I still got static from time to time. So it looks like basicallythat all this kit does then is eliminate about 5 feet of transmission over the airwaves. Dang! I thought it was a straight digital hook up.

Yes it plugs into the attenae. Here's the link for the instructions to give you an idea of the installation procedures.

Here is a direct digital input for the non shaker systems.

I used this with mine. Then I added this to control the ipod easier.

If you haven't already seen a thread on the PIE FRD-04 Aux input, I would suggest it. It's a direct hookup to the Shaker stereo. You connect the adapter to the back of the Shaker, then run a wire that connects direct to the iPod. I just hooked mine up this weekend and it's great. No FM signal, just a direct connect to the Shaker. CD quality sound. I had a FM modulator but got tired of all the static.
Here's a link or two about it. One show's a guy's install page that helped me out quite a bit. I have my iPod connect cable running to the center console, so I can control the iPod and just leave it sitting in the cupholder when I'm driving. It's just a quick unplug to take it with me. Whole setup cost about $140.

I picked up the peripheral 2nd gen kit at best buy. It allows for full control from the head unit. I probably will get it installed next week.
Best buy claims that it is completely returnable, so we will see what happens. It was 150
