slp exhaust

does anyone in here have either of the SLP mufflers on their '05-'07 GT? i've about decided that's what i want and am weighing out the options of the different models and wanted any insight any of you guys had. i'm looking for something that screams at WOT but isn't obnoxious just creeping through town. thanks

There are numerous threads about the SLP LM exhaust, a little time searching would save you some time waiting for us to reply.

The LM are louder than most at idle and at WOT they really shout.

I'm happy with them, they could be louder though.:D

RE: slp exhaust

i have a friend with an '99 SS ls1 and he has SLP long tube headers, with borla mufflers so this is what really turned me on to the SLP sound. his car sounds absolutely wicked. i want something that sounds just flat out wicked when you get on it, but doesn't sounds anything like the little teenage punks running around town. any suggestions on who has the best price on the loud mouth axle backs? and did you guys experience and change in mpg after installing the new mufflers? thanks again

My mpg went down because I was into the throttle more because I liked hearing the new sound.

Don't make the mistake of thinking your stang will sound like the LS1 cause it won't. The length of the exhaust, the fact that the SS uses a y pipe and then splits and the placement of the exhaust will all affect the sound. The same goes for if you heard that combo on a new edge stang, it won't sound the same on the S197s.

i know they won't sound the same. a 5.7 ls1 is not going to sound anything like a 281 4.6 but i like the way the SLP's sounded so i'm thinking i want to use the same product for my mufflers. just wondering if anyone else was running them on their '05+ and if they recommended them.

Slp loudmouths sound amazing period. They 1st of all dont have that ugly A/B which kills the mustang look from behind and they are a amazing idle and a nice roar around town. I shift around 3k rpms and they are pretty loud by then.

If there is a loss of power with the slp's, you won't notice it at all.

I backed my car into the garage when I installed them. When I fired it up the first time I was grinning ear to ear before I put in drive. Been happy ever since. My MPG went up a little after I started keeping my foot out of it ie. highway driving. I may go a little out of my way on the way home to drive through a tunnel to hear how it sounds.
