I've heard an Original 40 series on a 05+ GT and they sound good. It's not a very loud system though. So maybe some LTs and High Flow cats could increase it just a little bit.

for what its worth, i just heard the "american thunder" series axlebacks last night for the first time on an 05 mustang. i would say that its a step above stock. how stock should sound, at least. deeper, throatier, rumblier. about the same volume as stock.

for those who want to get better sound without much better volume, flowmasters w/otherwise stock exhaust FTW.

I like the Original 40 series sound better then the series specifically designed for our cars. An easy way to find the offset is to compare the muffler designed for our cars, to the offset offered for the 40 series. I don't have any pictures or install information, but you will require some custom work to be done. Shouldn't be all that costly. Two mufflers = $140. Muffler shop to bend pipe + install = $100-150? Maybe less. In all, much less then my $250 resonators and $300+ SLP Loudmouth. Someone mentioned earlier that the sound is deeper and more throatier then stock, but doesn't increase the volume by much. This is true. Though an O/R Pipe will definately increase the volume, but at the same time I think our cars need cats in order to sound right throughout the power band.

The choice is yours.
