Default cats in texas

my friend asked my today if he could run an O/R x-pipe on his 2006 mustang gt today and i honestly dont know. does anyone from texas know if you can run ur car w/out cats? if u cant is there anyway around it?

Legally, you cannot remove the cats. That is a FEDERAL law, so it applies in every state.

Most counties in Texas do not have an actual emissions test (tailpipe test). Therefore you could probably get away with it...but technically it is illegal.

Some counties (mostly in big cities) do have tailpipe tests, so in these counties you would fail your annual inspection.

just find a dealership with some younger guys working at it...throw them $50 and they will inspect it for you. what they do is get a new car from the lot and run all the tests on it then put the sticker on your car. works like a charm
