compare the length of the snout, the part that goes into the motor and make sure it is the same length. mine was 1/16 shorter, that caused the pully to hit the motor.

Wow, glad I read this, and I appreciate the post...as I just ordered my Steeda UDPs. I might just have a shop do this work to ensure it's done right.

I thought I read somewhere that the Steeda kit came with a spacer in the new kit? It is what spaces out the pullies and keeps the belt aligment.

Don't know about a spacer, one did not come in my kit and dave did not say anything about one. will let all of you know when Steeda receives my Balancer and lets me know what happened.

I had this same exact problem. I called steeda and they said to use a puller to pull the balancer out a little bit then retorque it. I wasn't happy with that response, so I took the pulleys off, andmy father (who is a machinist) turned it on a lathe and made about a 25 degree bevel cut on the back side of the pulley edge and then wealso used a small grinder on the face of the motorto take off some of the roughness from the casting and irregularties. I reinstalled them after that and have no problems now. But also it didn't look like mine was rubbing as bad as yours.

This is not good. I have the Steeda pulleys sitting in my garage awaiting install. Bought them from Brenspeed too, back in the middle of December Is there any chance someone has actual measurementsthey could share, so I can tell if mine will fit before going through all the trouble of taking my car apart?

Thanks,

Not good at all. I was going to order next week. Can we expect the Motoblue UDP to not have this problem? I believe they used to be made in the same factory, but if the Steeda's are now produced with another company, maybe the Motoblue is the way to go.

I can't tell you for sure what the problem is for sure untill Steeda's R&D get a chance to inspect mybalancer. My thought is this is a problrm with there new manufactured product made here. There old UDP were manufactured overseas like most of the othernamedpullies out their. My suggestion is if you are going to install Steeda's or other brands make sure you measure the back space or ( the snout from the back of the balancer pullyto the end that is pressed up to the crankshaft ) and compare the measurment to the stock balancer. If it is the same you should be safe, but any measurment less than the stock Ford Balancer do not attempt to install.

Any chance you could measure the length of the snout on your stock balancer for me? I can then tell if my Steeda pulley's snout is too short.
