Default New Car with rusty parts????

Hey guys,

A got an 07 GT last week. Last weekend I looked under the hood and noticed that the UDP is really rusty. Then I looked under the back of the car and saw the same rust on the rear axle and other parts.

Is this normal?

I too bought an '07 not long ago. Just broke the 1000 mile mark, and yeah I noticed a lot of rust too. I have a '96 Chevy pickup that I have driven through hell and back and there is less rust than the Mustang.

It's all surface rust but that's where it starts. I'm pretty irritated with it but other than painting it all I don't know what can be done.

I don't know what to do either. When I run my finger over it, it seems smooth but it leaves a rusty residue on my finger.

Do the rest of you have nice/clean UDP's? Anybody know if the pulley is made out of iron?

My car has less than 500 miles on it.

The rust comes standard on all GTs, there is no option to upgrade to semi-rust [sm=itsok.gif]

The Driveshaft and axle both fall vitcim to surface rust. Like all the other hunderds thousands of S197s out there. As far as the "UDP" did you mean the crank pulley?I can't recall seeing rust on mine but I live in a fairly dry area.

My crank pulley has rust as well as the pump on the left of the engine (not sure what it is, just had a quick look at it) Mine is almost rusting in Grabber Orange [8D].

Look under ANY new vehicle in a car or truck lot and you will see rust on the drivetrain etc. Just normal
