hood pins
Is there any real benefit of using hood pins..........or is it really just for the looks??? Deciding whether or not to throw them on, only if they are useful though..........

RE: hood pins

RE: hood pins
Considering that the stock hood can start to shake at 80-90MPH it gives a bit more peace of mind. Especially if you ever have seen one shake over 110!

RE: hood pins
It really shakes at 140. If you plan a lot of high speeds, get the pins.

RE: hood pins
If you have a fiberglass hood it is not just a good idea it a must. stock hoods shake at 80mph. fiberglass is much weaker. the center holddown will not cut it. if you don't want your hood to come flying off or crack I would get them.

RE: hood pins
i don't spend much time up near the 140 mph's either. that hood shake takes years off of my life!

RE: hood pins
Yeah, i can see the hood shake a bit at 90+. With the supercharger on the way, i imagine i'll be in that range quite often.... Anyone have suggestions on a good brand to buy? How hard are they to install myself, don't want to **** up this hood....

RE: hood pins
Do you REALLY have to get hood pins with a fiberglass hood? I am really not into the hood pin look, functional or not, especially on the Cervinis concept hood I think it would just muddy the look of it up. Requiring hood pins will really be the difference between getting a hood or not. I rarely, if ever, take the car up over 90 mph. And I have heard that adjusting the hood stops can eliminate the shakes. Anyone here been using a fiberglass hood without hood pins and been trouble free? Cervinis claims you don't need hood pins either. |
