Breaking in the stang?

Breaking in the stang?
Hey everyone,
I'm picking up my brand new stang within the next few days. I've heard different things on breaking in brand new engines.
Some say to drive the car like you're always going to drive it.
Others say to take it easy for the first 700 miles or so.
I'd like to hear everyones thoughts on this, and if there is a break-in period, how many miles or how long?
Also, how long until the first oil change?

RE: Breaking in the stang?
Everyone will have diffrent ideas on what to do,
Some say;
Drive it like ya stole it.
Drive it like you are always going to drive it.
Its broke in at the factory.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Ford says dont drive the same RPMs for extended periods till 1000 miles.
Thats it,
Personally, I dont take short trips to the store and back, if I go somewhere I take the long
way home and enjoy the ride.I waited till around 1000 before I really started to get in it,
I special orderd my car so I didnt get one that was test drivin "1/4 mile at a time"
Also get you a 3-ring note-book and save everything, i even have the check for
$12.00 overcharge ontitle work. ENJOY...................

RE: Breaking in the stang?
I broke my last stang in by the book and drove it til 130k miles before selling. Never did more than change the oil. Seriously.
Now I'm doing the same break in on this one. Its got 10k on it now and I smoke the **** out of the tires every chance I get. I drive that bastard like the biggest ******* on the road.
All jokes aside, I dont think it matters too much how you break it in. Just have fun with it.

Thanks for the replies so far, I'll probably try to take it easy for the first 1000 miles, and be sure not to keep it at the same RPM's and speed.
After 1000 miles, should the oil be changed?

I don't know about everyone else but I have been changing the oil on everything I've owned at the first 1,000 miles. Don't know if it matters or not as much as it used to, but old habits are hard to break.
