Default Need CAI convincing?

I'm confused. Most of the CAI's that guys have here are of the C&L type. Meaning, under the hood surrounded by some sort of shroud.

If it's under the hood, how can it be called a "cold" air intake? Isn't it breathing in the hot air from the engine. (200 degrees)?

I was really set on getting the C&L with Brenspeed tune, but I read some info on the kenne bell website about cai's that changed my mind. Now I'm considering just getting a tune only. That is, until I get a KB blower in a few years. Will just a tune boost my rwhp?

Can someone convince me why CAI's are a good mod?

This is currently being debated in another thread.....but you can get 25-28 HP with CAI and tune.

Tune will get you some HP but not quite like the combo does. It also adds some appearance to the engine bay.

the CAI is an improvement over stock because its a bigger, open filter and the intake tube is bigger, straighter, and better flowing, as well as being resistant to heat (COLD air intake). its not necessarily that it sucks air from some kind of hidden icebox or something

I believe most of the answers will be from people
who have bought a "CAI" already. So ofcourse they are
a great purchase !
I'm not convinced either,I will be going for a tune only.
I don't like the bling under the hood either.

it does pull in cold air from the fenderwell, hence the extremly larger air filter and heat shield inordering it to do so. also the stock tube isn't very strong and starts to "suck in" when you're in the throttle which doesn't let as much air into the throttle body. and you don't have to have "bling" under the hood. you can go with a JLT kit which is cheaper, no "bling" and makes more power than the c&l
