Saleen Flash w/ SC. Are you happy?
This questions is for those of you who have installed the Saleen Supercharger and had Saleen flash your ECM as opposed to using someone elses tune. Are you happy with it? I guess my biggest question is throttle response. I remember when I went from a stock tune to a brenspeed tune with c&l cia the throttle response was greatly improved! I would assume that's the case with the Saleen flash as well?
Please let me know. Still shopping for SC alternatives.
Thanks

Don't even bother with Saleen. Why tie up the car for atleast three days sending it back and forth to Saleen when you already know by what been said on all the Mustang forums about how crappy the tunes are from Saleen. If your worried about warranty from Saleen don't even bother to go the SC route, because no one stock tune will make you happy when you know that there is a lot of potential to unlock in these S197 motors.I went with a canned tune from from one the vender's out there.I had already had the n/a 93 oct tune loaded on SCT-2.So got a canned tune to baseline it then I went to a local SCT tuner had dyno'd and setup right. A/f @11.6 pretty much the whole rpm range,a nice street-able everyday tune that put out 427 rwhp and 404 tq with 3.6 pulley and with stock exhaust ,39 lb injectors.I'm happy as a clam, most people would be with this setup.Done properly the Saleen will make you very happy that you spent all that money. The tune is everthing with these Saleen SC's

I hadn't really read anywhere yet that the Saleen tunes are crap. I'm not all that concerned with the warranty issue I just want to get the most out of the supercharger. Thanks for the input!

Put it this way. my 06 saleen n/a base line was 250 rwhp and it was losing hp at 4600-4800k rpm......Prime example why saleen tune sucks..Go on the special section under saleen/roush and they will tell you whats up, there is a ton of guys in here running saleen s/c all will tell you the same thing. Great s/c though!

My '06 Saleen SC dynoed pretty much at the 435hp it was rated at, with an A/F in the mid 12s. Once I had the 475hp upgrade kit installed, the difference was night and day. Boost now comes in well before WOT, and you have unbelievable amounts of power on hand in any gear. If you want, you can melt your tires in first or second easily, and launching from 80 to 120 in 4th is effortless. IMO, it is all the power you'd ever need for a street car.
I'm still waiting for a few other mods before I put the car back on the dyno, but from what I've heard from others with the 475hp tune, I'd expect that the upgrade got me to 475hp (~400 rwhp), with a safe a/f around 12. No question Saleen's tunes are conservative; likely because they warranty their products (unless most other companies).
If you don't care about a warranty, then JDM is the place to go to push your SaleenSC setupto 450rwhp, which is as high as you'll want to go without getting forged internals.
Good luck!

I have heard from a few people in different forums that the saleen flash is very rich (prob to be safer). Because of this, it won't have the power or throttle response it should. You can definatelyget more out of it by getting a custom tune, or a canned (if you use their exact setup)tune from a reputable shop....
