RE: TOP GEAR GT500 TEST
There's a lot of talk about 'fast in a straight line'.
Yeah. The Top Gear crew doesn't do a lot of drag racing. Of course, neither do I, but I still got my car and would do so again in a heartbeat. I test drove mine in competition with a Mazdaspeed 6, Evo, 350z, STi, and G35 coupe....and had more fun in this car by far and would make the same decision (although I'd want to try a Speed 3 now too). Oh, btw, I paid less for this car than I would have for any of those others too.
Edit: Oh yeah, I do think they make a good point about the live rear axle though. American car manufacturers make waay to big of a deal (read: whine) about how expensive independent rear suspension setups are on their cars. That doesn't seem to stop the rest of the world. Hell, the Corvette wouldn't be the same Euro-killer that it is with a live rear axle, and Chevy manages to charge a lot less for it than any other car in its performance class. End rant.

RE: TOP GEAR GT500 TEST
I love Top Gear but I hate when they review American cars. Here's my complaints about this segment...
1) WTF is a Shelby GT390?
2) Richard cites that the GT500 only puts down 447whp. I'm pretty sure that before the parasitic loss, the horsepower at the crank is over 500.
3) They also say that the GT500 does NOT have limited slip, and the Roush does.

For example: the Z06 they tested. That 505hp or whatever Chevy is claiming it at the wheels. If only more car makers did this instead of trying to play numbers games....

RE: TOP GEAR GT500 TEST
i have no problem with HP listed at the crank, thats what it always has been. think about how many different HP specs our cars would have based on your options..... manual or auto, gearing, wheels..... it all makes a difference.
