!Purchasing Help! How much would you spend?
Hello everyone,
I hope to be driving a 2006 Mustang GT within the week, I've found a 2006 with just under 10K miles on it. The car has a shaker hood, 20" american racing shelby rims (so they say), leather, tinted windows and Roush Type "S" mufflers on it. Stealership is asking 24,995 for it, I was thinking starting at 23K and go from there. How much would you pay for it, this will be my first used car purchase.I've seen some similar (year/mileage) from 23200 to almost 25K. I'm gonna try and trade my SC 2004 Ram 1500, I'll be a little upside-down but I think I can manage.

I bought my 06 GT a few weeks ago, brand new for $23,700 plus tax, etc. The sticker on the car was $30,700.I can customize it how I want... if you're going to spend that kind of money on a car, it should be new.

I payed $25700 I think, for my Fully loaded 06 GT. Of course with tax and lojack it came out to $28 something...can't remember.
Of you serious about getting one, shop around, find a new one...they are out there.
For me, I love being the one who broke the car in, b/c I did it right..
But on the other had if they come down and give you a good price...get it...but don't let them screw you on the back end trading in you car.
They will manipulate the price to make it seem better...
I'd check some private sellers.

SHOP AROUND!! If you can help it.....do NOT rush into one just because you must have it. I got mine roughly 6 months agofor $28k (after all the fees and taxes) and it only had 47 miles on it. I was home on leave and I didnt have time to shop for very long - put out a request to three Ford Dealers with what I wanted and then went from there when they called me back. Sticker was $31k.

I just bought my 2006 GT Convertible Premium two weeks ago. She had 2076 miles on the clock. I paid $24089 out the door! It took me almost three months to find this deal but I wasn't in a huge rush either. Advantage I had was winter and knowing the convertible market slows big time. If you have time use it in your advantage, there are some very good deals out there but you have to look hard for them! Do not fall in love with any car, especially if the price is higher than you budgeted!
BTW, mine has 20" chrome wheels, tinted windows and every factory option. I am assuming the one you are looking at is a coupe and based on the deal I got I could not even consider paying anymore than $22K for the car you are looking at. Keep in mind that the market for cars is terribly slow right now and dealers will give great deals if pushed hard enough.

You guys are lucky. I couldn't get my dealer to budge. I paid $29,500 for an 06 with everything but LoJack and Red interior. So came out to $32,000 or somewhere around there.
