Default 4.10's and slicks/5 speed guys step in

Five speed guy's with slicks and 4.10's, what rpms are you trapping at the big end. It's a toss up between 4.10's or 4.30's. 1/4 mile pleaseI plan on running 26/11.50/17 ET Streets.

if your gonna be running slicks on the track, sounds like your setup would be right for 4.30's.

4.30's FTMFW. you won't regret it.

I am going back and forth over and over. I have read sooo much crap on this now.

If you look at the calculators it appears 4.30s are the way to go unless you are trapping above 116.

4.10 seem a bit weak because at 6000 RPM your at 118mph which I dont think we will see with bolt ons.

So it seems to me 4.30s are the way to go.......BUT many people say it is to harsh on the highway. I dont care about MPG but I dont want to wear my car out either..... The RPMs just dont seem much higher with 4.30s though.

At 70mph

4.10s = 2400
4.30s = 2550

Can 150 RPM really matter??? I dont see how.

Some people also talk about running out of gear in the 1/4. That also doesnt seem right because N/A I dont think I have seen anyone trap 120.

All calculations above are done with stock 18 tires. Which brings me to another possible issue. If you ever put on small diameter tires you could run into problems with 4.30s. I dont plan on going smaller than 26.35" tire. With a 26.35 tire 4.30s would run out at about 113MPH. So I could be running out then. So that makes me very nervous.

Bottom line I cant make up my damn mind. I hope somone will come on here and agrue a side strong enough they will convince me.

running out of gear in the 1/4
Changing to 4.11 gears recently, we calculated carwould run out of 4th gear on present MTs, so we extended the rpm rangelimitby 500. In so doing. the Prochargerproduced about another 50 rwhp (on top of the 480 rwhp)above 6200 rpmwhich apparently was too much boostfor the39 lb injectors (dynotuner was at the track with us).Now looking for a tire with a diameter of at least 28 inches and bring rpms back down to a max of 6000. Also ordered 60 lb injectors and GT500 fuel system just to be safer.
