Default Gear Ratio Question

I am putting in 3.73 FRPP gear ratios in the back this coming week. I wanted to know if I should drive the car a little soft for the next few days to wear in the gears. Should I do this? If so, how many miles?

After the install drive a reaonable distance and let the car sit and cool off for a bit(this will set the gear pattern) do this a couple of times and put ruffly 50-100 miles on them and let it rip! Once the pattern is set and they have a good install they don't really need to be broken in other than letting the gear pattern set at first. There is really nothing to break in if your doing the ring and pinion alone, I was a the track launching the car at 6,000 rpms the same day we got my gears installed in my Foxbody

oh btw. when you change gears, is all that you have to do is unbolt the bolts on the transaxel, and then slide the new gear in and lube up?

uh, im not too positive buti believe there is more to that, you need to replace the crush sleeve and the pinion seal and pinion bearing... this is why on most sites they offer an installation kit and bearing kit with the purchase of the gears (will cost extra)

-thanks for the advice...

Could you post what you think of them once you get them? Sorry, I've been thinking of going for those but I'm still on the fence. I know there's lots of info out there, but a little extra never hurts...thanks!

Default RE: Gear Ratio Question

With what I'm running, what would be the next step when it comes to new gears? I know it's all about preference, but it's difficult for me to have one when I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to the subject. I've heard nothing but good things when replacing the stock gears, and really want to do it. Also need info about where a good, affordable place would be as well. Thanks in advance.

I added gears to my F150. Had to do 3-5 cycles of 10-15 minute drves, driving moderately, not over 20 minutes or miles, then let cool. Repeat 3-5 times.
