Gears, Gears, Gears???
Fairly new here, got my '07 GT/CS 5 speed last December. Threw in the Hurst Shifter for Christmas and just installed the JLT w/SCT Breenspeed tune. You guys did me right with all the advise onthose so I thought I'd come back to the well again. Getting ready to replace gears, had an in house credit with Ford dealership so I picked up some FRPP 3.73s. I commute 52 miles round trip per day and don't do any 1/8 or 1/4 mile strips, but do enjoy the car on the "street", as you all know what I mean. I also plan on the Zex wet kit in the next year or so and am thinking about traction issues down the road.
I've looked at many posts along with the RPM charts for my wheel size and optional gears (3.73 and 4.10), I've got the 3.31's now. It seems quite obvious the 4.10s rock in terms of fun factor and performance, but may be a bit much unless your the full bore street racer or a regular at the strip. So here's my questions: are you one that installed 4.10s andregret it because of gas mileage, high rpms, short first gear, too much tire spin (ya right, I know - humor me), or any other reason. Or likewise but opposite, are you one that installed 3.73s and regret not going with the 4.10s because of just marginal fun or performance gains with them. Or rephased, what did you install anddid you or would go back and do something different if you had to do it over again.
As with others, I just seem to be going around in circleswith this oneso please share yourexperiences.
BTW, did I mention I love my new 'stang and these cars are are wicked awesome!!!
Thanks again.

RE: Gears, Gears, Gears???
Good question...I've been reading alot of post on gears for the last few months and I was/am all set to install 4.10's. But now that i'm ready, I'm having second thoughts. Tried doing "serch" but nothing comes up.
I know I will love the 4.10's, but hesitant because of highway driving. Hope to see some responce. Thanks!!
ps....I'm not an old fart but I'm getting there. 48 this summer and I know that has nothing to do with it. I love the Mustang, i love going fast or should I say "quick". Do I not this extra "kick in the butt"?

RE: Gears, Gears, Gears???
Switched to 4.11 recently. With the Nittos I use for daily driving, the effective gear ratio is about 4.35. Have ordered 27.6 diameter MT tires that bring the gear ratio down to about 4.04, for track use only. There is definitely a trade-off with the daily driving with the Nittos. They wereOKwith the stock gears but a lot less user friendly now. If you go with 4.10 gears, I suggest your reartire diameter stays to as close to stock as possible.

RE: Gears, Gears, Gears???
Since you are driving 52 miles round trip a day good call on the zex wet system. Miles may pile up on your GT/CS and you would only have to stress your engine with the system "when necessary" unlike asupercharger.
Don't you love the GT/CS! The reason I didn't buy a GT in 05' or 06' is due to the fact that I would have to sink in a lot of money to get the styling I wanted. Ford hit the GT/CS on the head perfectly IMO! The only thing I want is wider rims tires in the back, a ducktail spoiler, eibach sportline drop, then she will be looking mean enough. Then its all performance from then on.
