GT500 Vs. GT supercharged...

RE: GT500 Vs. GT supercharged...
for what you'd actually pay for a Shelby GT 500 w/ the markup... you could build a 700 hp GT w/ forged internals and S/C or turbo upgrade the suspension and crush most shelby's IMO from my reading....

RE: GT500 Vs. GT supercharged...
I think i would rather buy a stock gt and if its possible engine swap it with the gt500 or just mod the fu** at of it.

So would anyone else consider it pointless to spend a large amount of money to purchase a 07 GT500 cobra? The reasonI say this is because you can order an 07 GT mustang and then take some place else and supercharge it and get a much faster car than the cobra. Am I going wrong some where here in my thinking? Are there parts that you can add onto the GT500 to push out more horsepower? I think it would be much better to purchase a stock Mustang GT and just supercharge that. Opinions/Comments?

and of course, the shelby has historically went up in value- a blown 4.6 would probably severely detract from used car price on a base GT as odds are its been run harder than most- why else would you suprcharge a car that already has 300 hp
I'd still love to have a blower, even if a 4500 rpm limiter was added- the extra torque down low would be a 'legal blast to drive' everyday, just in normal running around...cant beat the feel of a bigblock, but can get close to that with a positive displacement blower on a small motor.

in May's issue of 5.0 Mustang, they took a stock GT500, replaced the OEM roots-style blower with a Kenne Bell stage 3 kit that recently came out, and a custom throttle-body and tune...if i remember correctly, they used 24 psi boost, and made 1000 horsepower at the flywheel, and 800 RWHP...they had a dyno chart and the car made 600lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm...it said there was no work done the tranny or rearend and the car retained complete drivability, except for first gear being useless and using 3rd or fourth as their primary accelerating gear...sorry to ramble, but it was an interesting story...my point is, how many GT's run around with 1000 horsepower safely...i know 24 psi sounds like a lot, but they said it would hold up.(not sure for how long tho)

This is my future plan if the GT500 comes down to msrp.

I had started a thread for it, I would rather do this, with say a Cervini's body kit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsKvrfyULhU

RE: GT500 Vs. GT supercharged...
The GT500 is too heavy......The Mustang GT would be my choice and a built motor and hellion would be in her, along with my choice of brakes and suspension. I'm not a fan of "show cars" or white unicorns such as the gt500. If ford had any ***** they would be like chevy, the camaroSS was basically a rs with leather seats and a body kit (LS1=LS1) and the GT would have the 5.4 DOHC. Since it doesnt and the 3V isn't far off from the old 4v 4.6 I'll take it anyday over a shelby queen. I'd rather have a sleeper GT than a overpricedcow anyday.

If you plan on customizing your car the GT seems a better option, you can always buy the complete GT500 engine from Ford for 14K and the Ford GT for 40K lol.
The GT500 seems more like a collector's item that is meant to leave stock, and certanly as a rarer item draws a lot of attention.
At the end it is allon your budget and what you intend to do with the car.
Good luck
