Don't touch the tune. You want to be around 12.0:1 AFR with a FI car. I would only go to a 13-13.5:1 on a NA car. Leave it where it is. You may make a little more power, like less than 10 more, but you will probably end up running too lean under boost and blowing the motor at only 8psi.

GO TO 14 AND YOU'LL BLOW UP THAT MOTOR!!!

F/I car you run richer than N/A... my custom dyno tune w/ a Vortech A/F in the power band 3000 rpm plus was 11.5 - 12...with a 11.7 average
I made 435rhp on MD... @ 6350 the tuner did not push her higher than that... so it might even have another 5-10 ponies in her!!!

11.8 sounds great to me. You dont want to run lean w/ f/i because of the risk of detonation. I believe most tuners like to keep the a/f under 12 at wot. A steady 11.8 is great. Also the bap should be fine. I think you can do 400 hp on the stock pump w/o the bap, but the bap should get you to around 500rwhp depending on the boost pressure and injectors your using. On 8 lbs you should be getting better numbers. Your gears will throw off your numbers a little bit but not that much. How much timing are you running?

At 360 at the wheels, you are close to what you can expect from a Powerdyne. That's about 100hp more than stock.

Your tune being fat doesn't surprise me. Considering thatit was developed out here in California where we have very little humidity, it's going to run more rich out there in Texas.

Save for a custom tune. You will never get optimum performance out of a canned tune. Also keep in mind that 8psi out of a centrifugal is much different than 8psi out of a roots or screw type.

The tune is going to be conservative to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised if you can't tune at least another 20-30 horsepowerout of it

So he is fine on his A/F. but there is something wrong with his tune he is only putting down 302 TQ, there is something wrong with that! Most stock stangs with CAI,pullies, tune,or x pipe are putting 300+ rwTQ

I just talked to my tuner, and my AFR was actuall around 10.8. So it was pretty rich!!! They just got their SCT stuff (they only did diablo until now) so I offered my car/tune to be a guinea pig.

Hiya,

I just dynoed my stang after installing the supercharger, and the tune has the car running an AFR of 11.8. Isn't that bad? I really don't have the money to pay for a custom dynotune right now, but what do you think would happen HP wise if we tuned it from 11.8 to ~14.4. I'm guessing a pretty large increase in HP right?

~Fred
No 14.4 is way lean for wide open throttle even NA. 11.8 a/f ratio at wide open throttleis ideal for forced induction. The 14.7 you're thinking of is for closed loop operation( part throttle) not wot.

Well, its actually around 10.8 at WOT so its still rich (my borlas are going from chrome to black). I guess we'll see what a good custom tune can do (Brenspeed doesn't have a canned tune for the powerdyne).

I'll let ya'll know what happens.

Is it 11.8:1 or 10.8:1? If it's 11.8:1, that is damned near perfect for a forced inuction engine in the area of 10psi. 10.8:1 is too rich. Be careful with that, running too rich can cause problems too. Some tuners advance the timing too much and then try to compensate by running it rich. It doesn't help and it's dangerous. Although it sounds like timing isn't too far advanced either if that's all the power its making. I might have missed it but who is the tuner? Is it a reputable shop? Before blaming the tune like many do, first double check all of the mechanicals. So many times there is an air leak or something like that. If you are positive everything is perfect, time tofind anew tuner. -Joe
