damn rattling!!
ok guys, this is REALLY driving me nuts. it's 30 degrees in chicago right now, so this problem is even more noticeable...
what happens, is this: whenever i start up my car and the engine is cold (and the colder it is outside the worse it is), and then i get on it in 1st or 2nd gear, i hear a rattling noise coming from the front underneath the engine (that's where it seems to be coming from). almost like it's between the front tires. headers maybe? i don't know. however, after the car warms up to normal operating temp, the rattle is gone. WTF?! no matter what, i cannot replicate it when the engine is warm, and as it warms up, the rattle dies down.]
anyone have ANY ideas? think it could be a loose header that when it warms up, expands, and therefore tightens? or is this normal when you get on your GT (i.e. floor it) when the engine is cold? i'm just trying to figure out if this is something i should worry about, or if it's just that the exhaust sounds more rattly-raspy when it's cold...
PLEASE someone help me...

RE: damn rattling!!
I have the pesty rattle that comes from the rear that sounds like a thin piece of metal thats resonating at the lower rpms.
love my car, it's lots of fun, but I certainly would question the saying "Quality is job 1"

I was thing its probably the cat also..... The substrate inside is a thin ceramic. It can break relatively easy. Thesubstrate doesnt really seat firmly until the cat heats up. I had a prob w/ 1 of my high flow cats. Small piece broke off and would clang against the inside of the cat.......When the pipes are cool, punch the cats a few times and see if you can reproduce the sound....

RE: damn rattling!!
I had a very annoying rattle coming from the rear of my Mustang, especially when slowing down. After checking everything under the car, I tracked the noise to the trunk and discovered the trunk liner was vibrating against metal above my right rear shock. I used sticky back Velcro in a couple of places to anchor the liner and no more noise! That was irritating the hell out of me.

Mine doesn't rattle at all (not yet anyway....).
Hey, why the heck would you "get on it" before your engine is warm-
isn't that just asking for trouble...?!
