Installing an Oil Pressure Gauge

RE: Installing an Oil Pressure Gauge
shouldnt this have been remote mounted?
im about to do the same, but i was told NOT to bolt the brass blocks directly to the engine block as the vibrations could eventually weaken the brass causing it to crack
instead, run a tube from block to brass block , and secure the brass block to something else

The Autometer instructions do address remote mounting:
"If unit is to be installed on a high vibration application such as a full
race engine or engine capable of high RPM, it is strongly recommended that the sender be remote mounted to either
the fenderwell or firewall, to insulate from vibration. Failure to remote-locate pressure senders on such an application
could result in gauge failure and potential damage to vehicle and/or operator injury."
A good friend of mine mounted his oil pressure sender directly to the block using a brass T on his '96 Cobra. He hasn't had a problem in four or five years. In fact, I got the idea for this mod from him.
Sorry for the anecdotal evidence, but based on his experience and the instructions, I decided it would be OK to mount it to the block. The 4.6 doesn't produce high rpm and I'm not planning to add a supercharger. Use your own judgement, of course.
If you do decide to mount it remotely, then please, take some photos and post back.
