Mickey Thompson ET streets
I just ordered the Mickey Thompson ET street drag radials. They are 275/40 R17's. Will they fit on my stock rims? I'd like to just swap tires instead of buying new rims. Also, how much will these improve my track times? 2 tenths maybe?

track conditions matter more than anything. you can fit those on stock wheels, which for drag racing is OKAY - but it's not very good going through turns. a 9" wheel will let those soft sidewalls flex better. you will likely see a couple tenths. I've never been a big fan of drag radials. a true slick works so much better. I know I know there are guys running like 8's now on them, but those are cars with awesome suspensions.
you'll be alright for now, but wider wheels would be better.

If you run slicks w/o reinforcing your rear end you will either pop an axle or break the differential. Wheel spin is your friend, as soon as you start looking for traction you better have your drivetrain completely reinforced to take all the power instantly.

I swapped stock rearend to one that is basically bullet-proof (rated at 800 hp ) before applying my MT ET Streets which are on 15 inch Bogarts. Same thing with transmission. I have ordered one that is rated to 900 hp. I am working from back of car to front. I just reduced rwhp to help keep motor whole until July rebuild.
