Default Question for JLT CAI owners.

Has anyone had any issues with the filter rubbing up against the insulation ( on the underside of the hood). It's just in one spot. I've seen a few pictures of them installed on the forum but some looked like they had a different kind of heat shield. Thanks for the help.

yep.....i noticed my jlt2 air filter was developing a black spot,
where it was rubbing on the hood liner. I had not yet come
up with a solution (i like blueherd's though).

i'm in the process of whipple charging the stang, so
the jlt2 is no longer in service.......

My filter also does touch the hood in 1 spot, I have the JLT2 on mine. My fix was just to put a small square of black door w/strip on that spot. The kind that has the tape on one side.

Same here, was rubbing so I tried reseating the filter in the heat shield and that did the trick. It actually looks a bit ****-eyed now but it fits correctly and no rubbing so...

Mine rubs in the metal end of the filter on the metal part of the hood. It has rubbed the paint from the hood, and the black metal on the end of the filter.
Black touch up paint on the filter for now, Ill rotate it 180 so you wont see it next time I change it.
And steeda hood going on soon as far as worring about the hood paint.

No rubbing by the filter but it looks like the black rubber elbow that connects to the throttle body contacts the hood liner but I attribute that to when I was road racing and at 130 mph the liner moves/floats around in there especially if you have some of those black plastic plugs pinning it to the hood missing and the liner is only being held in place by half the plugs.

Just take the liner off the hood. Problem solved.
