I've been making myself a bit nuts trying to figure out a rear tire for the stock 18 x 8.5 bullits. I know a lot of guys are running 275/40/18... none are approved for 8.5 width... yea I know the will fit... but they are about .6" shorter than the stocks. The 275/45/18 are a bit taller... by about .6" so it'll give a more muscular look IMO. If anyone has pics of this size I'd appreciate your post.

I have heard of 275/40/17, 275/50/17, 275/40/18, and 285/40/18 but not 275/45

yeah...its a rare size.. 4 models in total... Potenza, Contisport Contact2, Eagle GS-DS EMT and a Perrli... they are OEM on AMG55...

hard to find but seems to the widest approved size for the 18 x 8.5 rim

if they are OEM on mercs then they are likely to be expensive, which sucks

yeah... about 250-350 depending on model.....

I think I'm just going to stick with the 255/45/18...

I am not sure you got your answer, but I saw a Stang in my local dealer with the following set-up:

Steeda Pentar Satin (18x9.5) on all corners with BF Goodrich KDW G Force T/A (275/40R/18/99Y). Let me tell you, the set up looked great. I was going to ask the question whether they were any issues or not until I saw your post......does anyone know of any problems?

Thanks... no one is running the 275/45.. a lot of guys running the 275/40/18.. all around I've seen and they do look great... I wanted to change out the rears only. I wound up doing 255/45/18 Riken Raptors... so far they seem good.

Do you have some pics of your set up? The rim/tires bug got me and I am in the research mode now. I am thinking seriously of going from 17 to 18".

my set up is really stock... the rears (not in the pics) are now 255/45/18 which diamater wise are about the same. I have not taken any new ones from the rear since I got them last week. If I were change out all my rims (I didn't because I just love the OEM bullits) I'd suggest 275/40/18 all around on 18 x 9.5 rims. There are dozens of threads on this size / issue... use the search to see tons of set ups.
