Too much noise. It may sound like a truck.
Well, this post is just plain retarded. Mustangs are supposed to sound like a truck. Why? Because these cars have always used the larger motors used on trucks. The mustang shares the motor with the Ford Explorer. The GT 500 shares the motor with the F series 5.4s and the Ford GT. If it weren't for trucks needing the larger displacement/horsepower. We'd all be driving 4 cylinders.

With that being said many people have SLP Loudmouths, which do little to dampen the exhaust tones as far as being a muffler. So removing your stock mufflers will more or less achieve the same sound. SLP Loudmouths are one of the most popular systems for these cars.

no hp gain, at least that I know of, I don't think it would be much of anything if there was. It really didn't sound as bad as you would think, only at certain rpms. And no, your chances of gas poisoning aren't increased at all with just taking the mufflers off. the head unit is just one I got on sale pretty cheap that I liked, its made by Jenson, works great.

also, there is noticable difference between slp and just no muffler, way more than i thought there was going to be anyway. SLP makes it slightly quieter and a more refined sound, also adds a tiny bit of drone that wasn't there before at really low rpms.

I was exaggerating about the carbon monoxide poisoning. But I bet you will smell it more, and a trip with the windows up sure could get some in there. The trunk area isn't perfectly sealed.

what about the over-axle pipes right before the mufflers, if you remove the mufflers then doesnt that mean the overaxle pipes are hanging loose? is that bad?

Depends on the noise ordance where you are. Some places do require mufflers and as for removing the cats, that may even get your car impounded in some places.
