Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
I posted this on another forum:
I have a 2006 GT Automatic with 10k on the clock. Its issue is shifting or a lack of. 5 out of 10 times I can come to a complete stop and start back up in 2nd gear with the shift lever in Drive. Also the car seems to short shift (upshift way too soon). Does sound fimiliar? Is it a Trans issue or a program issue? The running gear is bone stock (no mods). Mike ________________ Dealer checked it out (charged me $80) and said its fine???????? |
RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
How can you back up while in 2nd gear while in drive? While in Drive?
You would be in reverse, not 2nd. |
RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
Do I really need to re-phrase it?

RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
Okay you start out in second - comprende now!
That is not normal at all unless you are selected in 2. In drive you should not start in 2nd, your dealer is nuts! |

RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
Thats what the $80 was for today (computer programming) and they said it was spot on.

RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
Yes, it wants to shift early if it can. If you floor it then it'll shift roughly 3750 - 4k.

RE: Automatic GT Problem? or is it?
I'm ok with the early shifts. I know its a EPA thing.
I ran a ford dealership in the 80's to 90's and remember that the sooner it shifts the better the mileage. I'm ok with that even in a performance car but does yours start in second gear?? |
