Seems like since the temperatures have gone up here in Atlantamy 93 octane tune has started pinging at upper revs under load. Is this a common problem occurence?

I'm sure Brent could send out another tune but ofa perfroamce decreased would I notice if i continue to run 93 octane fuel but drop it to the 89 tune?

Is there a sound clip of pinging anyway online? I've never heard pinging and would really like to know what it sounds like. Maybe i'll fill up with 89 and see if it pings.

I live in South Carolina and I can't run the 93 tune unless it's winter. Right now I'm running a 91 tune with 93 gas.

Sorry to answer the question I think the 93 has a tiny bit more umph but that might be because my car runs better in the winter because the air is better.

I had the same problem also with the brenspeed 93 tune. It seemed like it improved over time. A lot of people said that it takes a few tank fulls of 93 and then it will go away. I don't know if that was it or if I just lightened up a little to avoid it.

I don't run that tune anymore since the saleen was installed. If you just started using it and it still does it after you've run several tank of 93 you might want to talk to brent. Or you might want to try the HTO plugs if you dont already have them.

Moose sorry for the delayed response but pinging is gonig to sound similar to the steel ball rattling in can of spray paint. Turn down your radio, roll up the windows, and wind it up - if you hear that sound its pinging (predetonation)- likely from running too much timing. I think given the hot weather thats the case with me. There was zero pinging during the cooler months with the same tune. Probably 89 Ocatne tune on 93gas for me through the summer...

On the 93 tune I would hear a funny sound coming from under the dash almost but only at LOW rpm's. I put the 87 tune on and it went away. I'm assuming that's detonation?

I thought detonation was only at high rpms.

Detonation, pre-detoniation, pinging.....all the same thing. Just sounds like something rattling or knocking around in the engine. It's bad, and worse when it's under load.

I have seen more than a few posts lately complaining of Brenspeed's tunes knocking.
