Default A CRAZY IDEA

What if our cars weighted 3100lb instead of 3600+? an easy 0.5 off the 1/4mile. correct? OK replace the (Hood, Front fenders, Doors, Trunk lid, DS) with carbon fiber ones + some light front suspension. It'll cost around $7000! you could go faster with some bolt-ons and one supercharger for the same amount of money. BUT isn't it fun to run low 13s on an unmodified engine? plus a lighter car always handles better. CRAZY?[sm=insomnia.gif]

Do the weight saving mods and a power adder and there you go. I am actually going to do a rear seat delete cause I think the rear seats are pointless and it will save 20-30 lbs. You can do a lot of things like take out the A/C, Stereo, Power Steering, etc..... but I would never do things like that unless it was a strip only car.

A lighter car might get crazy at higher speeds. My 220# son fits back there nicely. He says it is an upgrade from the 67.

That's exactly why I thought of carbon fiber body parts and some light weight suspension from BMR. They have a front suspension kit that will knock 94lbs off!! you can get some light wheels from Weld and easily lose 60-90lbs more! boy..13.2s with a stock vehicle! what a dream! just add more gears + TracLock + Converter + Sticky tires and go deep in the 12s with STOCK engine. Sweet.
