Go with the 40 (lower profile) you will get better handling. I have the stock 18 inch on my 07 GT and it handles GREAT!!! S turns are FUN!!!! Down shift to 3rd and go!!!!

if you want a ultra high performance tire at a reasonable price.... look at Riken Raptor..its a Michelin brand tire... cool tread pattern and decent treadlife rating of 300.

A few that come to mind...

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position - http://productcat.bridgestonetire.co...nguage=English
Nitto NT555 - http://nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent555
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A® KDW NT Tires - http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/overv...-a-kdw/22.html

I am using the Nittos currently and I've been very satisfied with the wet and dry traction/handling, as well as the comfort. They do have a bit more noise than the stock P-zero's.

My first choice was the Bridgestones when I was in the market for tires but they were very hard to come by, they have great reviews and are highly recommended.

Correction, Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position does not provide a suitable tire size.
