Ford Racing X-Pipe installed

RE: Ford Racing X-Pipe installed
I'm ordering a midpipe next week, but for some reason cant decide between an o/r h-pipe or o/r x-pipe. I think I'm gonna stick with the h-pipe. I'm getting Pypes o/r h-pipe most likely, so I wont have to cut anything?

sounds cool. for the few curious ones out there. an o/r mid pipe is usually bolt in because it removes the entire mid pipe...gotta get those cats out somehow. the emission legal x-pipes such as FRPPs one, simply install behind the cats and do require cutting of the existing h-pipe

I cant see hi flow cats being worth it...the gains are around 7-9 for o/r x pipe and maybe 5 for an o/r h pipe...that is with cats removed so i am guessing you might get 5 with a hi flow x pipe. It will change the sound of the system though so I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I love the o/r h pipe with the stingers but you switched out the stingers so I know that is not the way you want to go. I have heard good things about the bassani catted x pipe...its also a good amount of dough!

The more I read on this forum the more I think it's best just to not touch the exhaust on this car outside of maybe mufflers for sound. Especially if your looking at performance upgrades like suspension and brakes.

RE: Ford Racing X-Pipe installed
A combo of LT headers and new mid pipe, catted or not, will give you some very nice gains....but performance wise, mufflers=0 and you might get 10 from a new midpipe. the 10 HP from a new midpipe would be cheap HP with $15-20/hp ratio which is very good, just about like pulleys or the CMCV plates. Better flowing exhaust does help other applications like FI, new cams etc.
