he got gears so why not replace it while you have it off...i dont think there is much performance gain. I will be getting one with my gears. its only another 187 ontop of the 210 for gears and then maybe 400 for install.....money grows on trees right....

What does that do? I mean besides lighter than the stock one, what is the advantage to upgrading it? What if you are keeping the stock gears, is there still a reason to get it?
uh....no it's actually about 7-10lbs heavier for a good aftermarket girdle. The stock girdle is like a soda can that is bolted to your rear end. You get up in the HP/TQ and you can actually start twisting and putting unnecesary flexing of the rear end housing causing havoc on your diff. I'm not a tech by any means, I just know that for the extra $119 it's well worth the insurance to know your girdle is 3/4" thick cast iron versus 1/8"aluminum that flexes, and more than likely will start leaking, or the root cause of your rear end locking up/failing.

It's not lighter than stock by any means. The stock cover is thin and weighs nothing compared to the ford racing one. The cover itself is supposed to strengthen the rear end housing and the stop bolts are supposed to reduce deflection of the differential bearings. It's supposed to give your gears a longer life, but IDK about that.

You can get the lpw girdle for $50 cheaper than the ford racing one.

Dont you have to relocate the panhard bar for the new girdle?

Not the G2 girdle, it's made specifically for the 2005+ mustang. My aftermarket panhard bar is very close to it though.

I had to relocate my panhard bar for the aftermarket girdle, so the mounting bracket ended up movingthe bar backby about .5"s. The relocation bracket is about $40. It depends on what aftermarket Girdle you have though, mine was 3/4"s thick, where as the stock one was probably 1/4" piece of aluminum.

What girdle do you have and why is there no rust on your axle?
