will it do anything bad?
So here's the deal.
MY car is completely stock. And it has about 1/8 of a tank left in her. I wanted to try to put a few gallons of premium in her to see what happens. Should I? Is it safe? Will my timing be really bad? Will it misfire? Will I notice a performance difference??? -thanks |
RE: will it do anything bad?
:eek:r u serious?
Gas is gas unless you have a tune for a specific octane. You can put higher octane automotive street (87-93) gas in without a tune but you will not get any performance gains. Just some weight loss in your wallet. Just don't put dieselor leaded gas in and you're fine. |

do you guys always use regular?
Well, there are higher octane fuels which have a higher flashpoint to retard the timing in high preformance engines. Thats why racecars use racing gas. So I figured that putting premium may change the timing alitttle.... |
RE: will it do anything bad?
I've never used regular gas. Always premium (I'm in CA so its 91 Octane) even when I was stock. Now I'm tuned for 91 Octane and I love it!:)

RE: will it do anything bad?
There should have been a place on the list for: am I wasting my money? Because seriously, unless you have a tune for it along with a new intake of some sort, its not worth it. Some people use it to use it and I guess they dont mind wasting the money, but get an intake and tuner and then get a 91 or 93 octane tune.

If you don't have a tune for premium, its ok to use it ocassionally. It helps to keep the engine clean.
