Default First mods for an 06 gt convertable auto

Hey guys,

I'm generally a GM guy, so I don't know much about the new mustangs.

Wife just bought an 06 gt auto vert with 1000miles. It drives pretty nice and has some pep to it.

What are some of the first mods guys do to these? I am assuming a quality tune and trans program. Do they offer noticable power gains, or not really.

What are some of the other first mods for this car w/o going too far (not gonna fly with her)?

Also, I assume that anything done voids the warranty?

Thanks,

Igor.

Welcome to the site!
As far as voiding warranties, the moss-magnusson act of 1976 basically states that the dealer must prove that your aftermarket part caused the failure and not a manufacturer's defect. With that being said, basic bolt-ons shouldn't cause you much of a problem, especially if you have a good relationship with the service manager at your local dealer.

Mod List:

1. convert to manual (just kidding)
2. Cold Air Intake (CAI) plus tune. Don't waste your time/money on just an intake, the gains you see won't be all that great. The tune is what really wakes the car up, and reduces throttle lag. For autos, a lot of the guys here are happy with b a m a chips (Doug).
3. Exhaust - Axle backs gains are almost irrelevant except that they tend to be pleasing to the ears!
4. X-pipe should give about 5 hp, but will change the tone of your exhaust as well.
5. UDP's are common, and in a vert, you shouldn't "need" to use the AC, but i'm not sure as to how it may affect the defroster.
6. You can always just say screw it and get a S/C...

Overall, you can spend as little or as much as you want. Take a look around, use the search feature. There are some stickies up top that have basic mods lists. https://mustangforums.com/m_934500/tm.htm
Also look at Taco Bill's How-To writeups in the 05-07 section. He includes great step by step instructions with pictures for the do-it-yourselfer.

Most of all, remember its your car, and do what you want and enjoy it!

Get the CAI and Tune , itll put you back like 600 or so but it completely changes the car esp in the auto. It shifts so much harder and reduces lag its amazing

CAI + tune. Brenspeed or B a m a c h i p s if you're an auto. If you're a manual, you can add Evolution Performance to that list.

+1 single bigest best thing you can do to improve your cars performance is cai/tune(outside of forced induction). Like stated above it run you about 550-650 depending which cai and tuner you pick but it is the biggest bang for the buck and is easy to return to stock when needed for dealer trips.

Cold Air Intake
Tune
Under Drive Pullies
Charge Motion Plates
and then some exhaust...

Other than a blower, there arent any other bolt-ons that are worth your while right now...

no such thing as a voided warranty......
They can refuse to fix a specific problem if they can relate it to modification but nobody sends your VIN number in to some black list.

I would invest in a pair of wrap sunglasses.

Enjoy the summer in your convertible.
