Default Moble 1, 5W-20

My indicated MPG jumped 1.5 to 2 MPG(80 MPH flat hwy)after putting Moble 1, 5W-20 in it at 550 miles. Anybody know what motor oil it came with.

I was surprised to find a BP sticker on my gas cap. I always use BP because I have a BP credit card that gives me 2% cash back (1% on everything else) I don't trust the other gas stations after owning a 300ZX Twin Turbo that required Premium gas, seems to me somegas stations mess with thepremium.

I'm planning on using mobil one 5w20 also. The car was built in 10/06 and delivered to me 5/21/07 which means the oil's been in the crankcase, just sitting there except for the transportation and PDI of the car, and the occasional test drive or drive back to detail for a refreshing, for 8 months, so I figure I'll change it at 1000 miles, should be just a couple of weeks from now. What's everybody's opinion on this? I figure between time and mileage it's due...

Maybe you can check your MPG just before and after you put in some synthetic motor oil. I would like to know if yours jumps up too. I have always used Mobil 1 and change it every 6 month. Don’t go by miles, but wouldn’t go over 10,000. My friend would go a year with Mobile 1. You could do oil analysis to see how the oil is doing after 6 months, but it would cost the same as just changing it. I used to lived in Phoenix. The extreme heat, 122 F, there totally cooks your engine - belts/hoses/fluids/peoples’ brains…that why I moved. Car insurance is higher there than anywhere else I know – once again, the folks there are crazy from the heat!!!

I'll be using royal purple when it's time but the choice over mobil one is just because Napa is a Royal purple dealer so I can get it at cost for my vehicles. I'll be changing in the next couple of weeks(@10k miles) so I'll let you know how that works out.

Err..I beat on my car around town and drive at 80 in 4th justto hear the flowmasters and to aggravate people; I live 2.5 miles from work and about 5 miles from anywhere else I need or want to go but always find a longer alternate route for some fun driving, also I have a one-burnout-per-day quota and run the a/c (I live in FL) and do very little fifth-gear highway driving so my gas mileage is very low. But I'll check it anyway. So far I'll gotten gas 3 times and it was about 12.5, 11.5 and 13.5 mpg.

I still use the dealer to change my oil and add 4ozs of Tufoil after every change. Engine runs great.

Richie:
had to give you a shout out. Sounds like you've been bitten. I have two choices going to the office...mostly highway ('faster'), or mostly backroads('funner')...turns out I am a 'fun' guy.

I bought my ride secondhand and first oil change was Mobile1, so I don't know what effect it has had on MPG.

Anyone know how long/miles Mobile1 is rated at?

Id advise against using Royal purple oil... It doesnt meet the listed specification, and Ive heard of some dealers telling customers specially dont use royal purple.

IMO they're just too much of an uncommon company that I wouldnt use their products.... Ill stick with the common well known companies.
