Default Air Temp Sensor with S/C

Hey guys, as you know my car is in the shop getting the custom tune done for the Whipple S/C that I installed. I received the following information/suggestions from them and wanted to know what everyone else thought about it.

"The air temp sensor needs to be relocated to after the intercooler, Whipple leaves it in the MAF on the inlet side of the blower. If thereis an intercooler pump failure the air would get very hot and the computer would not know to pull timing. Every factory SC ford vehicle is set up with the air temp sensor after the intercooler for safety reasons, cobra, supercoupe, lightning, GT, and GT500."

Also, during initial testing, the power dropped off at 5100-5300 RPMs and the shop said it feels like spark breakup. Hecommented thatWhipple suggests pullingplugs and checking for things like cracked porcelain (damage from shipping or installation). If its a stock coil that is weak, I can have him replace them with the Granatelli 3v coils here for about $450/set + installation.

I do not remember the air temp sensor portion of the install but does anyone know why they would need to pull the blower to relocate it? Please let me know what you guys think.

if they drill a new hole for the IAT sensor, they
would want to pull the compressor off to get all of the little
metal shavings out.

i did notice that there is already a small hole (plugged with
an allen head bolt) on the passenger side of the manifold,
near the rear. i wonder if this is for a future whipple IAT
sensor?
-
if you have the funds, yes i would have the IAT relocated as
they suggest.

The car is already at the shop.... so I might as well have it done the right way. Thanks forrefreshing my memoryand I do recall that now. They do not have a new set of plugs on hand and will not recieve them until Monday or Tuesday. So I will have them work on relocating that sensor for now. Thanks hammeron, I can always count on your wisdom and responses. Take care!!

Looks like it will be in the shop for another week. Not what I wanted to hear - but such is life sometimes.

here is a pic of the manifold and the unused hole....

the "X" marks the spot where some people
drill the new hole for the IAT sensor.

sorry the car will be in the shop a little longer
then planned, but it will be perfect and that's what
we want....
