We all have to do what have to I suppose, though I would do EVERYTHING in my power to keep from putting a trailer hitch on my mustang if I were you. I will NEVER pull a traler with my mustang nor will I EVER advocate doing it with yours. Rent a small uhaul or something, anything to keep from turning your sports car into a truck.....[&:]

PS They need to fix the servers I'm tired of having to post twice......[:@]

Ford rates the Mustang for 1000 lbs towing. You should be good towing up to that weight.

Ford also rates my Continental for 1000 lbs towing. I have a class II hitch on it, with a 1 1/4 inch ballmount. I regularly towup to 2000 lbs with it, and have been doing it with my Continentals (two 98's and this 02) for a few years now, and never had any problems.

Ford rates my MKZ as "NO TOWING". Don't intend to tow with it. Don't know why, because the Ford FiveHundred, with a smaller engine, but the same AWF21 Transmission is rated as 1000 lbs for towing.

You'll need a few other upgrades too. Bigger brakes, better shocks, 14" lift kit, 44" tires.

Nice photoshopping! lol..by the way, Those are 52" michelins, and since the mustang comes in over the top of em, Id say a 48" lft kit dont forget that heavy duty sway bar with those meats

I had a hitch on my '94 Trans Am and pulled a single Waverunner with no problems. They were able to install it kinda high so you had to push up on the bottom of the bumper cover to put the receiver in. With the receiver out you could not see the hitch at all.

Its really up to you if the convenience is worth the slight aesthetic compromise, but the Stang can definitely take it. I'd knew I'd remembered seeing a post where someone towed a matching tear drop trailer behind their GT, and the search function actually worked for me to find it! How would you like to camp out with your mustang?!
Anyways, do what you want and who cares what anyone else thinks!
