Default Supercharger and Horsepower ?

This might be a stupid question, but I have a 07 mustang gt. I am seriously looking into adding a ProCharger to my car. Alot of post that I have been reading say the stock motor is pretty much ok up to about 450hp. The information that the Procharger rep sent me says you can get 500 - 540hp safely on a stock motor running pump gas. Is the 450 hp numbers kinda low that I have been reading about or is there something that makes this Procharger set-up capable of producing these kind of hp number safely. Just wondering before I blow up a new engine. Thanks for any help.

Maybe the 450 hp you mentionis hp to the rear wheels? I've had my Procharger for 10 months now (6000 miles).Hadit to515 rwhp, now detuned it to about 460 rwhp on a MustangDyno. I share the same concerns as other folk about stock internals etc. Was going to put in a built short blocknext month but going long block later in the year. Until then...every day motor stays whole...is a good day.

550 at the crank would be about 440 at the wheel.

Is there some kind of formula or just a percentage of horsepower loss from the crank to the wheels?

Crank hp* .85 = RWHP
RWHP/ .85 = CHP

(considering 15% as parasitic loss)

You lose about 20% for automatics (i.e. crank hp * 0.80 = rwhp).

My guess is, as others have stated, the safely running 500 - 540 number is at the crank. If this would be at the rear wheels.....you're talking 590 - 635 hp at the crank. A number that any supercharger company would be ill-advised tocondoneon its safetyfor non-forged internals .
