With the older models, the first gear in the Auto was only like 2.95 compared to the 1st gear in the manuals at like 3.30? or something like that. Basically the 4.10s were recommended to help you get up and go faster. In the newer models the tranny ratios are much closer than they used to be so it's not really a big difference. It kind of falls back in the personal preferences.

The reason why people recommend different gears taller gears for the auto is due to the auto having a shorter OD 5th gear.71 vs the .62 OD5th gear of the manual. Plus with the exception of 1st gear the rest of the gears in the auto areshorter than themanual. But you could certainly run 4.10s in an auto.
I thought 5th gear in autos is 0.75 and 0.70 in manuals? that 0.62 is for pre-2004 manual trans?

BTW what I meant by 155m/h being enough or not is the aerodynamocs of the car
Hey for what it's worth we have a better drag coefficent than the viper..(036cd vs .38cd)

Not real sure why but I dont think the 3.55 option was or is available from the factory on the auto.
We had the option of getting the 3.55'swhen we ordered my 07GT - we actually went with the 3.31's as 99% of my driving is in town (crappy traffic) but because of it I actually get 19-21mpg in town - I just don't have that great of an increase on the freeway - best I've done is 26mpg (with an avg of 95 or so -oops did I say that...)
