Default HTO plugs w/91 octane race tune from B@mach!ps?

I have Doug's 91 octane race tune and C&L intake on my car (UDPs also). Will going from the stock heat range plugs (HT1?) to the colder plugs (HT0) help prevent pinging? The car runs great but on hot days after sitting at a stoplight and then taking off hard there is a slight ping at higher rpms, very faint.

I'm thinking of switching to a colder plug. Will this be OK? Thanks for your opinions.

By the way, I'm proud to be a part of the "tuned" club now. With Doug's tunes the car is at a whole new level. It really runs fantastic!

I dont think going to a colder plug would change your pinging issue. I think you just need to run higher octane than 91. It sounds like its advancing the timing too far.
But I think running 93/94 would take care of your pinging.

I live in CA and We don't have anything higher then 91 octane. Doug isone of the tuners that provides aftermarket tunes for mustangs. I don't want to modify the tune at all. I just want to know if using HTO will be bad.

Plugs that runs colder than whata N/Aengine is designed for will result in decreased gas mileage and carbon build up, which BTW may the cause of your pinging problem. But before addressing that issue, try different brands of "good" gas, not the s..t from the "Mom & Pop" stations. If that does not work, then dump a can of Seafoam into a full gas tank, and see if that helps. It got rid of my pinging problem. If no luck, then send the tune back to Doug for adjustment.

Thanks for the replys. I use only shell, 76, or cheveron and I just seafoamed a couple weeks ago. I can always just take out 2 deg from the global timing I guess. The pinging isn't really there all the time.
