Default Foam vs. oil/cotton filters?

I'm assuming a foam filter will flow more air than a paper filter while trapping more dirt than a cotton/oil filter. I just got done oiling my JLT filter because it was dry as a bone. The washing was easy, but reapplying the oil was a royal pain in the ***. I can't keepwashing this thing every 6 months. It's also letting too much dust through to my engine, i live in a very dusty area.

So is anyone using a foam filter with their CAI and how does it do with stopping dust?

K&N makes a filter wrap that only restricts like 2% of the flow...get it!

It's allready on the way! Along with some poly motor mounts from summitracing.com. You guys with the squeegy clean under carriages and engine compartments don't know the hell I go through everyday![:@]

Hopefully it helps or i'm going to look into something else. Might even get a tune for the stock box/filter and see how much of a difference I can feel.

www.sbfilters.com They make the filter and sell a cleaning oiling kit for $15(I think). It comes with one bottle of oil which looks like it's good for 2 1/2 cleanings. The process isn't hard, just time consuming because you use a little squeeze bottle with a nipple on it to apply the oil on each pleat. You have to go all the way down each pleat and let the oil soak downward. It tells you exactly how much oil is need to reoil your filter on their website, you're not supposed to use any more than is required. The JLT II filter takes 48 grams of oil and you measure this on the bottle when it's upside down. You'llactually have to squeeze it into the little applicator bottle 3 times because it doesn't hold enough for a full application with this filter.I bought the blue oil and turned my filter blue. To wash it you just spray on their cleaning solution and run it under the garden hose, no high pressure sprayer. Let it dry completely in the sun before oiling.

see the little accordian looking bottle

Hmm, my filter cleaner kit (S&B I think) had the oil in an aerosol can. That part was much easier than cleaning the filter in the first place.

Must have been K&N, unless you see an aerosol can on the S&B website.

AMSOIL and AEM make replacement conical filters that don't require any oil. I have the AMSOIL, it works great.
