The vortech and paxton look almost the same, except for the part running from the intercooler to the throttel body. I think the paxton looks cleaner.

He's told me he'd knock off the price of the xcal.

I have found the paxton 1200 without tuner for $2499. I've found the complete kit for $3499, but of course I don't want another tuner. $2499 will leave me with plenty of cash for a dyno tune from VMPtuning. I'm assuming I'd need atleast 39lb injectors with that kit and maybe a MAF.

Here's the place selling it for $2499, not sure what that includes or if they are even reputable.

Moose,
What about Brent's COMPLETE package deal on the Vortech? Is it in the running on your short list??

I know it's 4200, but all inclusive. And if I am not mistaken, if your already have an SCT2, I believe Brent will knock the price down at least 150 or so......

Just a thought.

The Powerdyne is a great blower. In the past they had issues with the belts breaking, but they resolved them years ago. the Powerdyne is even better than the Paxton or Vortech for warranty issues because you don't have to tap the oil pan. it can be removed much easier. Potential for greater boost down the road isn't there, but 400rwhp for $2600 (including tuner, injectors, fuel pump) is a pretty good bang for the buck imo. Call Dave at R&E Racing in Lancaster,Ca. Their website lists it at $3500, but he's been sending them shipped out the door for $2800something.

If you're dead set on going to VMP for tuning, then maybe Justin can hook you up with something.

the one for $2499 is a tuner kit

* * Tuner Kits do not include fuel, engine management or MAF
components, which must be provided by the installer for
proper engine operation.

I too am looking for a cheaper supercharger. You might want to check out the paxton supercharger. If you go to the paxton web page it says that they just came out with a new supercharger. This one doesn't need to tap the oil pan. I might just hold out and wait for a package with this one.

I know, i allready have a tuner, so that just leaves injectors and MAF. I also have a ford GT pump that I haven't installed yet, but a fuel pump shouldn't be needed if only adding 120hp to the engine.

Get a paxton with meth injection and you are all set. The link shows it with a vortech and the cost installed and dyno tuned is very reasonable. Basically 2 big upgrades and the intake temps never went over 135 degress after a 1/4 mile pass. All done on the tuners car with 4:10's, Just an FYI and is a alternate to intercooling. http://www.alternativeauto.com/prods...h-alcohol.html

I had the vortech non cooled kit originally. I loved it. I had no issues to speak of. The only reason I upgraded to the "cooled" kit is because Vortech offered me a deal I couldn't pass us for the use of my car. I will say the cooled version does add quite a bit more kick to the car though!. Personally, I would stick with the Vortech or Paxton unit. Powerdyne has had soooo many problems over the years and I'm surprised they're still in business. They are not even really a factor in the blower world anymore. Stay with the guys who know and study Mustangs!

If you're dead set on a Paxton, I'd wait a little bit. I just read an article in 5.0 Magazine and Paxton is coming out with an internally lubricated blower, so there's no need to put a hole in the oil pan. The article says that the superchargers should be available this month, so you may not have to wait too long.
