Gears + Warranty ? (not the typical ones)
This car needs a little more "shi+ and get" and I want the 3.73s so that is not a question.
Also, I know they can only void the warranty if it's related to your so-called mod.
My thing is this: After about 2-2.5K mileson the new car, it developed gear whine and off to the dealer it went.
After two of the Ford "axle repair kit" attempts and some other driveline component swap-outs, Ford finally authorised them to replace the complete rear axle assembly.
They had my car for 28 DAYS after only 3 months of ownership!
2500 miles since the repairs and all is well so far but obviously I am leary of going thru a gear swap after that experience.
Plus there is the whole issue of finding a reputable shop to do it.
So would you guys do it or just wait till the warranty is up?
I have been thinking of just buying the C&L plus tuner from Brenspeed to give mea littlesatisfaction till the warranty is up.
What do you all think?
Thanks,
Lance

do it......by the time the warranty is out you will have lost 3 years of fun!!

If your car was in the shop for a month you can also get with your local Ford Rep and get a month a payment back. Happens all the time.

Yeah just do it...a lot of us start out saying we'll wait out the warranty to start modding, and it never happens...get the CAI/tuner combo AND the short gears, and you'll smile more...

Thanks for all the answers and suggestions guys but I am suprised that more of you aren't concerned about the warranty.
I am pretty sure that after them replacing the rear, if I go back after a gear swap with problems, they are going to tell me to go pound sand.
You all must be loaded!
Anyhow, I think I am just gonna go with the intake and tune and while we're on that subject, from what I've read on here, Brenspeed's main competition, who for whatever reason you can't mention on here, has better tunes for the auto's.
Any opinions on this?
Thanks for all the help,
Lance

I only make $28k per year, so not loaded. If you want gears then find a shop that will stand by their work. If it doesn't break after a few months of normal drivingthen it's not going to break.
No Ford dealer is going to fix your gear whine because another shop installed aftermarket gears. I've never been to concerned with vehicle warranties because for the most part they aren't necessary. Most people never use their warranty. I'm also not the type of person that goes to the dealer for a F'n dash rattle!
