RE: fuel filter
i would release the pressure in the
fuel line before starting.....you can do this
by removing the fuse for the fuel pump (#21) and
cranking the engine for 3-5 seconds.
let us know how it goes

RE: fuel filter
you'll need the 5/16 quick disconnect tool (available at any parts store)...even with pulling the relay, be wary of fuel spray (when I worked at Chevy the Venture fuel filter would spray everywhere no matter what the hell I did, pulled the relay cranked it a bit for good measure and still)
...p.s. I'm so glad that Ford still uses fuel filters (Dodge doesn't, Honda doesn't, some Chevy's don't, etc.)

RE: fuel filter
I sort of drive alot. 30,000 miles since Dec. The filter was only $16, figured I might as well get it at Ford. Since its motorcraft, I would think it would be avail averwhere. Thanks guys for the good advice. Will let you know how it goes.

RE: fuel filter
I changed the fule filter last Sunday. It took me about 25 minutes. I could not get to the lift, so I used two hydraulic jacks and lifted the drivers side of car. I had to removed some bolts and lower the black plastic guard thingie and then it was easy removing the filter. Thanks for the advice on removing the fuse for the pump--very little gas came out.
