yes it does require a tune. I know someone who did not tune and it ran crappy. after tuning it was badass.

Ditto for me, I had Brenspeed 91 octane tune with just CAI installed, after Long Tubes installed got a code for O2 sensors, apparently the O2 extensions that come with the LT headers make the computer believe they no longer work properly, Brenspeed sent me a new more aggressive tune to get rid of code.

I can't wait to get to track cuz it hauls a$$ !!!!

Here's what I posted on an older thread, hope this helps::
.

Here's what I was told when at JDM

1) I would not need a new tune for LT's at all.
2)They do not turn off the sensors with their tunes, so you need extensions.
3) While they sell both ARH and Kooks, they recommended the Kooks here's their explanation;

The Kooks and ARH are both very good quality. They recommend sticking with 1 5/8" primaries, not the 1 3/4", and definitely not a 3" aftercat system.

The Kooks are technically mid length headers and not true long tubes. The O2 sensor position is not too far away from original position to become a problem.

With the ARH, the headers are so long that the O2 sensor in the collector can get too cold, and you will lose control of your sensor. This, on cold startup, esp on cold days, can cause significant idle and running issues until it warms up. The solution they perform is plugging the collector location and moving the O2 sensor into one of the primaries, close to the head. However, you are now reading off of only one cylinder.

Their conclusion was, although you may see 1-3 hp more gain with the ARH than the Kooks, it wasn't worth the potential running issues it might cause, or the hassle of performing the O2 relocation.

Since I don't drive my car in the winter, and Kooks doesn't make a catted H-pipe yet, and I can get the ARH at cost, I am still going back and forth regarding brand. Just thought I'd pass this on to those who care.

You do not need a tune for LT headers.
You do need extensions for the O2 sensors if not included.
You might or notget codes from the O2 sensors, if so you'll need a tuner tool liek SCT or Diablo to either clear the codes or disable the O2 sensors altogether.
A good dynotune is always advisable.
