Default Turnin up da boost!!

Well I put 60# injectors in the car with a MAFia and a boost controller. Lets just say that I am amazed at the numbers the hellion kit is making at 13-16 psi the highest we got was 566rwhp and 615 rwtq and we hadent even begun to lean on it. THEN ALL WENT TO ****!!!!!!!!!!!!! It started running rough so I pulled the plugs to find the HT0's had burned out or cracked the porcelyne. So we went back with a nice set of brisk racing plugs which are 20 bucks a piece got another good run in and it did it again. So now I am having it diagnosed to find out why the heat in the cylinders is getting so high to melt the end of the plugs off.

I would have seriously shot myself in the head if it would have blown the motor. Now the question remains............When the boost goes up why do the plugs take a ****??

I am no expert but I belive you are either running ritch or lean witch causes extreme heat. Probably running too lean.

JDblack,

As fordfanboy will tell you, going above 13 psi is very hard to do and he had no luck with his setup. I feel it can be done and he will differ and I can respect that because he tried and it didn't work. I can tell you this I'm not sure why its doing it, but like he will also tell you HEAT with these turbo's at high psi's is a big issue. good luck and let us know, since I am going your same route as we speak

I recall you told us that you kept the stock 9.8:1 compression with the new block, isn't 16psi too high for that even with those big injectors?

Hey, I am having the same thing done right now on my car. I have the E-boost 2 boost controller being installed as we speak. I am about to turn up the boost to around 12lbs, and am having the mafia with 60's installed also. I allready have the autolite HTO's so I to am a interested in what is going on with your car in case it happens to mine.

sounds like the car is leaning out. Have you done any upgrades to the fuel system itself? If not I would consider it and soon leaning is one of the main problems with these motors.
