getting gears...what else?

getting gears...what else?
Well, going to get my first mod! I have an '05 auto and I'm going to upgrade from my stock 3.31 gears to some 3.73's. I was wondering if there are any other recommended mods that should accompany the gear swap? Also,if anybody who has had this done could post some install costs and where they had it done I would appreciate it .
Thanks in advance,
Scott

go a higher ratio. 3.90, 4.10?

3.90s would split the difference between 3.73s & 4.10s nicely IMO. Yeah, get a CAI/tune in conjunction with you getting gears installed.

Would 4.10's be a little much for a DD? I have also seen some comments on these forums that 4.10 is a little much for an auto. Anybody running them care to comment?

moe, are you telling me you got the gears + installation for 250 bucks?! What kind of gears you getting? The Ford racing gear kit alone is running more than $500. Plus, they gotta reprogram your car to keep the speedometer accurate (and that requires a tuner, unless you already have one-- that'll run you 'bout 2-300 bucks if not more).
Tell me where this is happening... I'm there.

I really like the 4.10 gears with my auto. I drive 52 mile to and from work everyday. I average still 19.5 mpg and love how quick the car is. I paid a mech. her at the dealership $250 to install the gears
