how much 87 can i mix with 93?
i am running my 87 tune right now since that's what i had in the car when i installed the CAI. i am down to a bit under 1/4 tank (says 11.1 gallons used), and i am wanting to fill up with 93 and put the beefier tune on. so, should i wait longer or is it ok to mix with 93 and run the tune? thanks!

drain all the 87 octane out first, as much as possible. When the info center says "0 miles" you still have one gallon left. Then fill it up with 93, then load your 93 tune. People have lost complete engines by running a 93 tune and filling up with 87 (extreme FI applications, but still)...

i just wanted to know how low i needed to run the 87 before i can safely fill up with 93 and run the 93 tune.
is it a noticeably difference from 87 to 93 tunes? the jump from stock to CAI/87 tune was amazing!!!!

i filled it up literally until it was about 7 miles to empty... but it wont hurt if it is like 20 to empty, cause the next time u fill it up with 93, it should be good, then tune it...

Here is the basic algebra to calculate this problem.
Example: The tank holds 16 gallons total. You've got 1/4 tank of 87 left. Thats 4 gallons. You want to add 3/4 tank, thats 12 gallons of 93 octane. So, 4 times 87 is 348. 12 times the octane you want to put in, 12 times 93 is 1116. Add them together, it's 1464. Divide that by the total capacity of the tank, 16 gallons, you have 91.5 octane in the tank.
